I don’t know about you but planning for an overseas holiday feels little more than a mere memory.
Over the last two years, I have, like many fellow Singaporeans, tried my hand at rediscovering our tiny red dot’s finest attractions. They range from affordable jalan-jalan trips around venues such as Gardens by the Bay and Changi Airport to slightly costlier visits to the Singapore Zoo or the SEA Aquarium at Sentosa.
I am not saying that these activities have grown tiresome. But if, like me, you are looking for something slightly different to do during the first quarter of 2022, we have compiled a short, to-do list for you and your family to consider at Downtown East.
There are even some limited-time deals to be had.
1. For Everyone
From now till 31 January 2022, NTUC Plus! and Plus! Members need only spend $68 or $88 at Downtown East to redeem a special Lunar New Year gift set.
The gift set consists of red packets and travel size Tiger Balm ointments and is valid while stocks last.
2. For Families
Want to head out with the family for some post-Lunar New Year shopping but afraid the kids might get bored? Why not head to Downtown East between 4 – 6 or 11 – 13 February and let your kids unleash their inner artist with Cartoon Network.
Located at Open Plaza 1 of Downtown East, your young ones have the option to unleash their creativity through drawing, colouring or crafting.
They can sketch, scribble or draw to their heart’s content at the doodle station or visit the craft station to create ‘We Baby Bears’ themed headbands and colour their favourite Cartoon Network characters.
There is will also be a meet-and-greet session with characters from Cartoon Network and Crayola. You and your kids will even be able to take a photo with their cartoon personalities.
What’s more, spend $68 at Downtown East and stand a chance to win Cartoon Network Mystery Bags, Downtown East vouchers or Linkpoints! Valid for all Plus! Members.
3. For Couples
Want to escape from your nosey relatives this Lunar New Year? Or perhaps you and your significant other are looking for a staycation with a difference this Valentine’s Day?
Then a getaway for a night or two at Pasir Ris may be something up your alley.
No, I am not talking about D’Resort, which will not be available for booking till May this year.
I am talking about SG Hotel on Wheels (SHOW), the roving pop-up container hotel currently docked at Downtown East till 20 March 2022.
Promising a fun and Insta-worthy stay, SHOW is currently offering a special 2D1N Couple’s Staycation Package at $388 with over $500 worth of perks.
They include two Wild Wild Wet day passes, a couples art session by Fara Design Studio, and a choice from two sumptuous menus from either Wine Connection or Swensons for a romantic meal under the stars outside your very own container.
Book your staycation here today or call 8952 0535 for more details.
4. For Youths
Holster that handphone and get ready for some wet and wild fun in the sun at Wild Wild Wet.
From now till 31 March 2022, students can spend a day at Singapore’s number one water theme park, which was also voted fifth best in Asia by TripAdvisor, for just $20 (usual $26).
Don’t worry about going hungry because the price of admission comes with a set meal at Ola Beach Club worth up to $27!
Patrons can choose between fried rice or aglio olio with crispy chicken or fish. All meals come with a bottle of water.
Are you thinking of a revisit? Then top up another $30 to get a six-month season pass, along with a one-year nEbO membership and a $5 Starbucks voucher. Valid for the first 200 purchases only.
Book your visit here.
5. For the Ladies
Need to burn off some of those Lunar New Year calories? Ladies who enjoy working out on their own or with their girlfriends can head on over to Ark Liv – a fitness gym just for the ladies.
Besides being equipped with cardio and body strengthening equipment, it is also the first female-only gym in Singapore that features a climbing wall.
Ark Liv also provides ensuite bathrooms and vanity areas for their clientele for added privacy.
