As part of the recently launched Inter-Generational Programme by NTUC First Campus and NTUC Health, juniors at My First Skool@Braddell Heights have been having some fun times with the seniors at Silver Circle (Serangoon Central) through various activities. We hear what a few of them have to say.
“We thought that it would be a good learning experience for her to interact with the elderly. We noticed a lot of very positive changes. I think she’s become a lot more caring and understanding because she lives with her grandparents and would voluntarily fetch water for them, and massage them.” – Mdm Lua Shi Yun on daughter Puah Ying Tsi, 5
“It is a good initiative for the children to learn more about the elderly and interact with them. I think she’s less shy when she interacts with the elderly. It’s like during Chinese New Year, whatever dance and song she’s learnt, she would perform them in front of her grandparents. I think they enjoy it when she performs for them.” – Mdm Lee Ying Ying on daughter Foo Zhi Xin, 5
“Seeing them fills me with joy, and the children are very obedient. For us older people, we look forward to spending time with our grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. It would be great if we could do this every day! – Mr Chee Yow Loke, 89
“There are two children here who I am very familiar with. We would learn things together. Sometimes we would make biscuits, and handicrafts. If there are things they don’t know, or need help with tightening knots for their handicraft, I can help them.” – Mdm Ng Lai Sam, 75
