Your employer has been treating you well, so how about giving them a well-deserved recognition?
The Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP) announced today (9 February 2018) that nominations for the inaugural Tripartite Alliance Award are open from now till 16 March 2018.
The award serves to honour employers who practice fair, responsible and progressive employment practices at their workplaces.
The Award
According to TAFEP, employers have to be nominated by their employees or the union they work with.
However, for the category of “Responsible Best Sourcing”, the nomination can come from service providers or outsourced employees working with them.
The Award will be given out in four categories.
They are fair and progressive employment practices, work-life excellence, age inclusive practices and responsible best sourcing.
TAFEP said that nominated organisations must have signed the TAFEP Employers’ Pledge of Fair Employment Practices and all the Tripartite Standards.
The award is conferred by tripartite partners comprising the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF).

Manpower Minister Lim Swee Say noted that workers are Singapore’s most precious capital in the future.
“We need to cultivate and grow the community of progressive employers here to help bring out the best in our people. The Tripartite Alliance Award recognises these progressive employers. Their achievements and commitment will help spread the mindset of nurturing human capital as we transform and grow into our future economy and workforce,” he said.
SNEF President Dr Robert Yap felt it is important to showcase model employers to inspire other employers to follow.
“Employers with progressive employment practices have more motivated, happier and productive employees and these contribute to the sustainable growth of their business,” he noted.
NTUC President Mary Liew emphasised that workers see companies with good work practices as a crucial factor to help them realise their fullest potential.
“As such, it is important for employers to be inclusive and support them in both work and life aspects, while continuing to nurture them in their careers. This is even more critical as our country progresses towards a future economy,” she said.
Nominations for the award can be submitted on this website: https://www.tafep.sg/award. The closing date for nominations is 16 March 2018.
Winners will be announced at the Tripartite Alliance Award ceremony in November 2018.
