From lift chatter to pantry talk and word-exchanges around the street, we eavesdrop on your thoughts on Budget 2018. Here you go…
“What stood out for me was the capability transfer programme, to grow certain skills locally that we don’t have, which means that we can keep those jobs to locals, strengthening the Singaporean core.” – Ang Jia Da, 32, Senior Executive
“Climate change is a real issue that the world is currently facing. Take action now because neglecting climate change is never a good idea. I’m putting high hopes that the newly implemented carbon tax would significantly reduce carbon emissions.” – Jason Sim, 28, Software Engineer
“I am pleased to note that the grants for SMEs will be streamlined. For example, productivity solutions grants and enterprise development grants. It will be easier and fuss-free for SMEs to tap into the funds to expand.” – Evelyn Poh, 44, Head, U SME
“Everyone plays a part in fighting climate change, big or small. Over the years, there were good behavioural changes, but the conscious effort in reducing carbon emissions as an individual is probably low. I support the Government’s action towards climate change by implementing the carbon tax! Companies are excited to learn what schemes are available and how to tap into the Productivity Grant (energy efficiency) and the Energy Efficiency Fund. I hope to get the information soonest and assist the companies in this. While funding is a fast solution, I hope there is more involvement in new ways of energy sustainability in the business processes.” – Kelly Koh, 36, Senior Industrial Relations Officer
