For A Better Life
Lift technician Mr Mohamed Hanifar (pictured above) had to raise five school-going children on his own after his wife passed away in 2013 due to cancer. Instead of complaining, he works “so that they can have a better life”.
The branch official from The Singapore Manual & Mercantile Workers’ Union (SMMWU) has been receiving the kind assistance of the NTUC-U Care Fund in the form of the U Stretch Vouchers and the Back To School Vouchers since 2012.
In 2013, he received more than $700 worth of vouchers as each of his children was eligible for BTS Vouchers, helping to ease the burden on his household expenditure.
Bonding Time
Mr Hanifar’s work requires him to be on duty or on standby during the weekends, making it a challenge to spend time with his children.
However, NTUC Club’s kind sponsorship lets him take part in the Family Recreation and Fun Carnival with his children.
