“During public holidays, Singaporeans need taxis to move around, so by working I actually help smoothen their transportation needs. That is important to me.”
Having spent eight years as a taxi driver, Mdm See, who is 57 this year, is all too familiar with how working on a public holiday feels like.
Previously an insurance agent, Mdm See said her move to drive taxis was a calling that she had been waiting to answer. During Lunar New Year this year, she decided to provide much sought-after taxi services, while covering her relief drivers who were celebrating the festive season.
