Yes, I’m one of those Singaporeans who willingly spends a day off scouring the island for the best eats, standing in queue for hours just to get my hands on droolworthy food.
As you can imagine, I also spend an obsessive amount of time hunting for the best deals to satisfy my wallet as much as my tummy.
So, if you’re looking for ways to score the best makan deals, your search ends here.
From value-for-money breakfast sets to start your day right to shiok hawker lunch deals at yesteryear prices, there are good deals aplenty if you know where to look.
Check out these four awesome deals that will make you want to zoom down now! All we ask is that you leave some for us.
1. Lau Pa Sat Hawker Delights Every Monday
If you’re working in the CBD, good hawker fare may not be easy to find (I should know, I work in the CBD too).
From 1 July to 23 September 2024, chase away the Monday blues with $1.30 hawker dishes every Monday at Lau Pa Sat.
Be spoilt for choice with 13 local faves like laksa, chicken rice, chicken briyani, and more! Your Monday lunch sorted (for the next 13 weeks)!
This deal is part of the iconic hawker market’s 130th anniversary celebrations. Kopitiam, the NTUC social enterprise that runs Food Folks, introduced this offer to continue its mission of keeping cooked food costs affordable for Singaporeans.
Tip: With only 130 redemptions every Monday, go early to beat the queue and chope your seat. The CBD bunch can get pretty cray cray during lunchtime.
Keen to know what’s on offer every week? Follow @laupasat.sg on Facebook and Instagram. To redeem, apply the promo code in the FairPrice Group app and scan the QR code at the respective stalls. Terms and conditions apply.
2. Rice Garden Daily Cai Png
If you haven’t eaten at the cai png stalls under the Kopitiam Rice Garden Community Project, you’re really missing out. It’s an economic rice haven that truly lives up to its name!
For NTUC union members, it’s only $2.70 for one meat and two vegetable items at selected Kopitiam outlets. Pioneer and Merdeka Generation Singaporeans and blue CHAS card holders can also enjoy this wallet-friendly rate. Comcare card holders have it better, as they pay a lower $1.50.
Kopitiam’s Rice Garden Community Project has been serving up affordable cai png to Singaporeans since 2009.

Can’t start the day without kaya toast and soft-boiled eggs? Kopitiam’s Signature Breakfast Set is just what you need.
NTUC union members pay only $2.20 or $3 for two soft-boiled eggs, kaya-butter toast and a hot kopi or teh at selected Kopitiam/Cantine Corners coffee shops or Kopitiam/Cantine/Kopitiam Food Hall food courts islandwide, respectively.
Hungry CBD folks can also consider the limited-edition Satay Bun Set for $2.50 ($3 for public) at the Kopi Kiosk at Lau Pa Sat.
Satay buns next to a popular satay street? It’s a no brainer really.
Tip: Better hurry, these yummy morsels are only available while stocks last from 1 July to 31 August 2024. Simply present your NTUC union card when you order.
Again, it’s only for NTUC union members, so sign up now if you haven’t already done so.
4. Cantine by Kopitiam Bandung Special
I don’t know about you, but Bandung is my go-to drink to beat the heat.
It’s not easy to find one with the right balance, but the version at Cantine by Kopitiam at B2-17 Pasir Ris Mall hit the spot! Sweet, milky, cold, and with a delightful rose fragrance, I just had to tapau one for the road.
From 27 June to 27 July 2024, buy any meal and grab a glass of Bandung for only 50 cents.
Pick your meal from the mouthwatering variety of Muslim favourites, like Ayam Penyet and Mee Soto, to trendy Korean, Thai, and Mala dishes. Now your makan will be just as good as your minum!
Tip: Bandung is available in limited quantities, so head there early and present your food receipt to the counter.
