In 2009, the global downturn called for a major fundraising effort to better the welfare of low-income union members who, like many Singaporeans, were heavily impacted.
That was when NTUC decided to consolidate its fundraising efforts and with the help of the Singapore Labour Foundation, NTUC-affiliated unions, associations, management partners and tripartite partners, the NTUC-U Care Fund was conceived.
Since then, the NTUC-U Care Fund has helped low-income union members and their families through the disbursement of over $74 million over various assistance programmes.
