Out or in between jobs? Here’s your chance to earn a few extra bucks, especially if moths are flying out of your wallet.
The next festive season or Lunar New Year, which is just around the corner, presents a great opportunity to pick up some extra cash.
If the usual part-time cashier or restaurant service jobs are not quite your cup of tea, we have compiled a list of five seasonal jobs that may interest you this Chinese New Year (CNY).
Now while we know that sales promoter jobs are a dime a dozen during the new year period, there are a few that offer a pretty attractive remuneration package (not to mention commission) for those gifted in the art of sales.

- Home Cleaners
If customer facing and persuading jobs are not your forte, you could perhaps consider a role as home spring cleaner.
With 2020’s Lunar New Year is less than a month away, we are positive that there will be many households scurrying to get their homes ready for visiting relatives.
From removing dried Christmas decorations, to cleaning regurgitated wine and turkey stains from bathtubs (hopefully not), there’s money to be earned as long as you are willing to dish out a little bit of that elbow grease.
There are some companies who run contests and redemptions during the lunar new year period, and they will need part-timers who are able to man their booths and answer customer queries.
If you don’t mind interacting with people as long as you do not have to sell anything, then this could be the role for you.
With people rushing to banks to withdraw new notes and ang pows (red packets), some banks will be looking for temp staff to be stationed at various branches to handle customer queries, crowd management and distribution.
- Freelance Buyer
Some would argue that we Singaporeans love to queue, but we beg to differ. With snaking queues for seasonal delicacies like bak kwa from well-renowned establishments, there is a market for freelance buyers to help interested customers by getting into a queue to purchase such treats.
You might just want to bring that portable charger along as you could be standing around for a while.
- Date-for-hire (Bonus Listing)

If you don’t do any visiting during this period and think you have what it takes to pose as someone’s significant other, this is an avenue that you may want to consider.
